This was done as a project for one of my classes. It's a visual interpretation of a symbol in the short story "The Scent of Cinnamon" by Charles Lambert (which I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend). The starving dog (in my opinion) symbolizes the fear of death.
Critiques are greatly appreciated! If you have any ideas on how to improve the picture (preferably things that I can do to it in Photoshop), I'd love to hear them!
Ink and white paint on cardboard. I don't have any color media or paintbrushes with me at the moment, so the paint splatters were done by mixing paint with water and flicking it onto the cardboard, and also by applying paint directly from the tube onto the cardboard and spreading it with paper.
for a dog that skinny, I think his head, feet, and possibly legs are a little too thick. But I love the expression and the shading. The texture in the background is pretty cool too. It adds to the mood of the picture.
Wow, 54 seconds ago....my timing for once is amazing........anyways, that is a REALLY skinny dog, but it looks awesome and freakish (in a good way); perfect for halloween.....I also really like the paint splochy background ^^.....I think it would be even scarier if you had his mouth more open and growly, his eyes glow a little, and made everything a little darker......if you were going for scary......and if its the fear of death you're talking about, there ain't nothin' scarier in my opinion <..<

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
