I volunteered to do the badge designs for this year's Tora-con ("tora" means tiger). Since it was an anime con, I added Japanese themes to each badge. And Tora-con has nothing to do with the Chinese new year. "Con" is short for "convention," and Tora-con is the name of an anime convention in upstate New York. It has to do with tigers because the con is held at a college whose mascot is the Tiger. Hope that clears things up! ^^
